Blog description
For my dear friends far far away... a diary of my wonderful life in the lovely country of Croatia.

Explanation to all who wonder why this blog is in English:
my dear friends, to whom I write this instead of e-mails, are not Croatian. They’re from all over the world. So, I write in English, which all of my friends, whether Croatian, or Japanese, of French, or Mexican, can understand.

Forgot my e-m@il?

The last movie I've seen...
I can't seem to find the time to go see a movie. Or the will. Or the money :).

Alexander the Great

Horrible, horrible movie. Don't go and see it is my honest advice.

The Chronicles of Riddick

What can I say? Vin Diesel. If this were the worst movie in the history of movie making, I’d still love it. But it was quite good, actually. Sort of like Conan in space, but with a much, much hotter guy in the main role. Vin Diesel. Ah, he could make a movie about him walking around in an empty room for two hours doing nothing and I’d think it was the movie of the year :). (oh, and this stays here until I see a new movie with Vinnie boy :)))

The book(s) I'm reading these days...
Right now I've got the new Terry Pratchett - "Monstrus Regiment". It's too serious for a Discworld book so far.

Damn useful!

Ah, I'm so happy!

D. is here, he's staying for a few days, he's got some job interviews and if it works out, he'll be MOVING TO ZAGREB!!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping he makes it.

I'm sick and tired of not having any friends around me.
But soon, I'll be overflowing with friends :).
A. is coming back from the Caribbean, or wherever she was sailing around, M. and A. moved to Zagreb too...

Did you notice how most of my friends names are either M. or A.?
Weird.

Anyway, D.'s come back, we're off to have coffee!!! Yeey!!!

We took the cat to be neutered today.
I miss the little bugger running around the house.
I wonder how she's doing at the vet's, the poor thing...

I have a test today, I haven’t learned a thing, that’s the way it always goes with my school stuff.

I bought some female magazine a few days ago. Why, I don’t know, since all female magazines do is get on my nerves.
I cannot believe the amount of crap you can read in them.
No, not crap, more like … molding. The female magazines try to tell all the women reading them what they should look like, what they should be.
Oh, they are so modern today, so it’s all about, take care of yourself, be cool, be vibrant, be independent, be young, be that or you’re not a woman at all.
Be different, but remember that this season green is in so you should wear green just as everyone else but be different.
Bullshit.
You walk around town, and you see these girls and women, they all look the same.
Right now, a very popular look is high-heel boots, short puffy jackets, tight jeans, sunglasses (in any weather) and a tan.
Do you know how many women I see looking like that?
Dozens in just a five-minute walk.
They all want to be beautiful, they all want to be cool and independent and different, they all read Cosmo like a bible, and they all end up looking exactly the same.
Put them in a line-up and you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.
Amazing.
Why do they all want to look the same?
Is it some herd instinct?
Peer acceptance?
What?

I wonder…

In the end, I did have fun in Istria.

We went to Novigrad and sat in a café soaking in the sun and behaving generally like lizards :).

It was so lovely, I’ll post you more pictures soon.

In other news...

The cat is in heat.
So strange, she's only 6 months old, and she's in heat.
She started making those weird sounds and rolling all over the floor, it's so funny.
So, we need to go to the vet to get her neutered, or whatever you call it. Can't have a cat in heat running around destroying furniture. Honeybunny will flip out :).
So far so good; she’s just making weird sounds and rolling around the floor.

I told honeybunny last night, while he was being irritated by the cat’s meows:
“You know, honeybunny, this is a sort of prelude for kids. One day we'll have kids and they’re going to enter puberty and be just as annoying as the cat is.”- I said.
Honeybunny looked over the computer screen and said: “So, then you’re going to get them neutered too?”
:)))

She really is very annoying. Anybody who’s had a cat can tell you, nothing beats the annoyance of a cat’s meow when they’re in heat.

M. has come back from China and will be staying here a few days. Well, two days anyway. Cool.

I'm in Istria and I'm bored to death.

I’m writing this on honeybunny’s laptop, and it’s so annoying – it’s a laptop and I hate laptops, and it’s not my baby Blacky computer. You get so used to some things. For example, I’ve gotten used to a certain ritual in the morning and not going through with it annoys me. I’m used to my dear comp and the mouse, not this laptop thingy without a proper mouse … but they say change is good. And I’ve always believed it anyway. Which does not mean I don’t have to be annoyed by it.

It’s so easy to become a slave of habit. It happens to all of us sooner or later. We have our little ways and it’s hard to let them go – the longer we have them the harder it is to change them.
Some people have a bathroom ritual, you see it made fun of in sitcoms; guys going to the bathroom with the newspaper and not coming out for hours … come to think of it, I know a lot of men that do this … must be a guy thing … or is the bathroom the only place they can be in peace away from us women :))) ?

There goes honeybunny with the tractor. A true hard working man, my honeybunny is.
There, he’s having fun with his little tractor and chopping wood and things like that, and I’m in here, watching some stupid thing on TV, getting really bored, because I didn’t bring any books with me.

The weather is terrible, it’s one of those days when the sky is so close to the ground you feel like it’ll fall on your head.

The cat it hysterical, poor thing – she’s afraid of dogs to no end, and here she can smell them outside, they both sleep in front of the door. I think she keeps trying to find her way home, but she can’t get out of the house.

I was reading the announcement of the new Star Wars movie (can’t wait to see it!!!) and one of the sentences goes as follows: “bla, bla … the metamorphosis of young Anakin Skywalker to the naughty Darth Vader … bla, bla”
Naughty?!
Naughty?!
People, people, how can you call the official most evil character in movie history naughty?!

Ah, I have no will to rattle around the blog anymore. I’ll go off and see what pretty picture Storm Rider has for us today :).

I found a really good song to listen to. Thanx to Suicide Girl for letting me know Good Charlotte exist.

Beautiful songs, or I should say compositions, are like diamonds sparkling among pebbles. Songs are more than pleasant sounds – they are emotions in the air. Once, I read a saying
The one thing that real life needs is background music

And I completely agree. Some things just demand background music.
When you’re down and alone, you just need music to your match mood. When you’re happy and on the top of the world, you need music too. Angry moods, unhappy moods, doped-up moods … they all have their expression in music, more than in any other form of art we have created.

Music is what I remember most.
I don’t have a very good memory for events, I forget half the things that happened to me in the past, or even a few weeks ago, but I don’t forget music.
From the first nursery rime I have learned to the latest hit, I remember all the music I ever heard. Well, most of it anyway :).

What food is for some people, for me it’s music. It brings back the memories of happy and sad times, of events long gone and lovers lost.
I still cannot hear some songs because there are memories I don’t wish to recall associated with them.
Who cares about food, music is the food of life.

Better yet, music is life. When you look at what music really is, just vibrations and frequencies, you can say that music exists in the heart of the universe. Not that we can hear it, but it’s there. In the hearts of the stars, in the depths of space, from supernovas to dark matter, everything has its frequency, its vibration … its music. Music is integrated in our very beings. Can you say which color an atom is? No. But can you say what music it plays? Yes.

(LOL, then you can really say life does have background music – only we can’t hear it and it’s not appropriate :) )

I’ve found an interesting article, small but cute, on the music within and around us, called Exploring Micro/Macrocosmic Music; read it if you have time. It’s fascinating.

Honeybunny and I are going to Istria for the weekend again. So, if I don’t write soon, have a good weekend y’all :).

Love from

Tiamat

I’ve just read the post below, screening it for errors, and I concluded I sound like a perfect air-headed idiot, who can think of nothing else but matching colors :)
I do, don’t I? :)))
Maybe I should dye my hair blonde?
They do say blondes have more fun :).

Until a more intelligent post, love and kisses to all from

I think the wind is blowing really hard outside because clouds are streaming on the sky dangerously fast.
Ah, it's nice to be warm indoors when it's cold outside!

So, honeybunny came back from Belgium and brought me CHOCOLATE!!!
Godiva :)
You don't know if you should eat the wrapping paper too, it's so beautifully designed and put together.
And the chocolate itself – divine.
Simply divine.
It's my favorite, dark chocolate, the one with over 60% cocoa :). Oh, I'm melting just thinking about it ... mmm ...

Stop drooling, Tiamat, you'll flood your keyboard!

Anyway…

I think I’m going to buy a printer. It’s amazing how much stuff I have to print out. I didn’t bring my old one from Split because I thought I won’t need it, but now, every week I’ve got a few things to print out, and nowhere to do it.
So, I need to get one.

Of course, I could always send for my old one, tell daddy to ship it to Zg, but … you see … it’s white.

And Blacky, as its name says, is black. With a black monitor and black speakers and a black mouse and … you get the picture; every part of my computer is black. And it looks so great. And now imagine an off-white printer beside it. Horrible. So I found this little printer in black and silver, which is a great combination, and I think I’ll get it. I also saw one in gray, which was sort of cute, but gray is such a depressing and just not a very nice color, don’t you think?

It’s so silly, not wanting a perfectly good printer because it’s the wrong color … but I’m a woman, and that’s a good excuse for silly behavior :). That + PMS and you can get away with murder :).

It’s so much fun being a woman :).

Honeybunny's coming home tonight from Belgium. I hope he brings some of those wonderful chocolates with him.

M. went to China not a long time ago and I told him to bring me some Chinese candy. After all, you only know a culture when you've eaten some of their food :).

I'm sorry to say, their candy is horrible. I mean, it's really horrible.
They seem to use some different kind of sugar, or some spicing, or something which leaves an incredibly bad aftertaste in your mouth. I've found one I sort of like, and one, which is not candy but a sort of nibbly thing, made from sesame seeds. That was ok. But candy... thanx M., but no more.
I really didn’t need to know what they do to chocolate. I used to think that is one ingredient that you cannot ruin no matter what you do to it (except mixing it with nougat), but Chinese have found a new way of ruining a chocolate sweet.

I swear to God, one of them was cucumber flavored.
No, really, cucumber.
The vegetable.

Crazy people.

Mornin'

I just washed my hair; it's such a bother.
Last night, among a ton of other things, I dreamed I dyed my hair in punk-like colors. It was all screaming pink and blue and god knows what. I concluded I overdid it, but it was a new look, and I really wanted a new look.

I don't believe in the mystical power of dreams. I believe dreams tell you of now, of your hidden thoughts and desires you're too busy to think of. So I think my dream told me that I'm longing for a wild change. For something that will completely transform me and shock all those around me.
And I am.

The reason I don't have a job still is that any job I can think of sound boring like hell to me. No ... challenge.
Well, yes, there is a challenge in every new job you start, but not the kind of challenge I'd like. I want to ... explore rainforests. Go hiking in a desert. Pray with Tibetan monks.

I want to do things that will make me think when I'm 80 yrs old: “That may not have been prudent, but it was fun.”
So, how do you go about doing something like that?

How do you go off to explore the jungle when you don’t have enough money to fly to London and back?

And besides, there is no place truly unexplored, truly new, no place I don’t know anything about on this world.
Everything is so close now, so… industrialized. I bet you, if I was to go to the deepest jungle, under the oldest trees, deep in the dark green of primeval forests, I would find someone selling souvenirs.

... a bit later ...

I just got “off the phone” with N.
I’ve downloaded Skype, and now I’m wondering why no one told me about it before. It’s such a cool program.

It would be even better if my microphone worked :).

Like this, N. was talking and I was typing :). So funny. Now all we have to do is hook up the cameras and we could have coffee together, nevermind she’s in Japan and I’m in Croatia :).

God, I love the Internet!

News from Croatia:

A guy tattooed a commercial on his forehead for 3000 kuna, which would be around 500 dollars.
We are truly modernized and up to date now, we’ve even got people selling themselves for fame and fortune. Just like all the developed countries. Lovely.
So, what’s the difference between him and a whore? They both sell themselves for money. Ok, he’s not getting fucked literally, more verbally, but that’s about it, I think.
Well, the fact that he’s 18 yrs old excuses him from any stupidity he makes. I’ve done things so stupid with 18 that I’m still blushing when I remember them (and nobody paid me!). It’s a good time to act like an idiot; later in life you can ascribe your silly behavior to hormones and whatnot.

I’ve watched some silly American TV series last night and this guy got killed despite the fact that he was innocent.
I was surprised at my own anger towards the fact that an injustice has been committed. I was really furious at the TV :).
I always feel like that when something unjust happens. I feel this, well, there is no better word but burning anger towards those committing the injustice. I just want to grab them and choke them.
Do any of you feel that way or is it just me?

The joy of computers

Today, my Windows crashed.
Well, actually, my Mozilla got stuck while I was 94% through downloading a 7MB program and I lost it all.
Of course.
It's a sort of a rule, really.
“When downloading large programs at dial-up speed your computer will crash just when you've almost got it.”

They should put it in addition to all the other Murphy’s laws.

Have you ever read Murphy’s laws?
The bread always falls on the buttered side and all that?
I’ve read the whole book full of them one time.
Everything kept going wrong while I was reading it.
So I concluded, it’s not the laws, it’s me doing it.
When you expect something bad to happen, something bad will happen. Definitely.
If you’re a hard-core pessimist, you’re in for big trouble.

I think I’m a realist really.
It’s not my fault that I see the world painted black if that’s the way it is.
What’s worse, see it black or put on a pair of rosy glasses and pretend the black isn’t there?
That’s like walking into a wolf in the woods and pretending it’s a puppy. You’ll get bitten and wonder why. Why? It was a great big wolf not a fluffy dog named Spot!

God, my mind is wandering today.

I’ve got things to do people to see… I think I’ll spend the day at home. It’s too sunny outside, I lost my sunglasses. I’ll melt.

I bought pink glittering nail polish. The bottle won’t open. Can anybody lend me a pair of pliers? Or a really strong guy?

Surprising how such a small bottle can be a source of so much frustration.

So, I’m back in Zagreb now after a few very nice days at home in Split.
I had so much fun there I almost didn’t leave.

I was out of the house more in those few days than here in weeks.
I don’t know why Zagreb does not appeal to me so much.

In Dubrovnik, I always felt like home.
And any other place I’ve lived in.
But here… I keep expecting to move off somewhere soon.
I just can’t feel this city my home.
It sounds strange, especially to me, who can make a hotel room a home, but… there’s something missing.

Anyway, I’m here, honeybunny’s here, which means my inspiration has gone off to party.

Love to you all from

Tiamat

P.S.

It's sooooo much fun having a digital camera :)))
